Willacy Horsewood Architects is an award-winning, Chester-based architectural practice, whose projects extend throughout the North West of England, North Wales and beyond. We design well-crafted and sensitive-to-context buildings, in three broad categories: commercial, residential, conservation and restoration.
Established in 1989, by Kevin Horsewood and Mark Willacy, we pride ourselves in offering clients peace of mind and value for money. We ensure that you always have direct personal contact with one of the partners. We are continually committed to best RIBA working practices and to investment in new technology. Our fully integrated Revit 4D BIM (Building Information Modelling) system provides fully co-ordinated three-dimensional information to all disciplines throughout the entire project - providing efficient design solutions and significant cost savings for our clients.
Whatever your project, our values remain consistent: to provide the highest level of design excellence and project coordination - and to leave a legacy of buildings to be enjoyed by everyone who uses them.
Our approach
The first principle of good architecture is function, so we start by finding out what you want the project to achieve. Whether it is refurbishing or repurposing existing premises, designing or extending a private home or creating a new HQ, we will sit down with you to establish how your building will be used. We will discuss different scenarios, future plans and explore ‘what ifs...?’
Once the function is established, we get to work on the structure - how that function is going to be achieved - before putting pen to paper (yes we do still do that) to turn function and structure into a visually stunning, aesthetically pleasing building that works for you.

Our practice is geared to fulfilling a promise of always having a partner involved in every project. This applies whether your next project is a multi-million pound housing development, retail premises, business park, conservation/restoration project or an individual private residence.
Of course we couldn’t do this without an excellent network of consultants, enthusiastic designers and supporting staff. Nor could we do it without our contacts and good relationships with planning departments throughout England and Wales.
